Following the hugely successful and well-received 2010 “John Garcia Plays Kyuss” tour, Garcia, along with original Kyuss members Nick Oliveri and Brant Bjork, come together as KYUSS LIVES! During their European Tour this year, the influential American stoner rock/metal band from Palm Desert, California will make a stopover at the Rockhal on the 1. July 2011.
The legend that has become Kyuss was formed in 1989. Just three months after releasing their breakthrough album …And The Circus Leaves Town, Kyuss broke up. The band has been on a pause ever since, even though they reached legendary status. Their music influenced thousands of rock bands all over the world.
The inventors of Desert Rock have grown in popularity and acclaim since the breaking, leading to a best of compilation Muchas Gracias in 2000. Due to the massive demand, Garcia toured Europe last year under the name “Garcia Plays Kyuss”. He planned a one-time only tour to play his favourite KYUSS songs live. Mission accomplished.
But Garcia was wrong, dead wrong. The demand appeared to be much bigger than he originally thought. People loving Kyuss were not your average fans, they were truly apostles! No matter what city or town the band hit, how small the clubs or how big the festivals were, sheer crowds at every show were the result.
During the Hellfest Festival in France, Nick and Brant spontaneously joined John on stage and they felt something they hadn’t felt in over 20 years. It was impossible to explain the feeling but the adrenaline rush they all shared was obvious. Within a few hours all three had decided to get that Kyuss legacy where it really belongs… live, and on stage, played straight to the people, for the people, who had never got a chance to see the real deal back in the day.
With a new album planned for 2011, KYUSS LIVES! is striking the Rockhal on the 1. July to cause mayhem and leave a trail of amazed spectators. Consider the rest history.
