Kettcar, one of the greatest German indie rock bands, is coming to the Rockhal on 12 July 2011. For the first time in Luxembourg, these guys from Hamburg want to show us why they’re considered as one of the best live acts.
There are bands who’ve accepted themselves, life, everything. There’s no need to even talk about them. And then there are bands like Kettcar. They’re not going to accept anything, they’re questioning everything and they don’t spare anyone, not even themselves. Their lyrics and music prove it. Countless sold-out concerts in different countries and three albums have cemented their status as one of the most important German-speaking indie rock bands.
When Kettcar was formed in 2001, the band members were already well-known in the punk and ska scene. They have their roots in German nineties punk rock, which they combine with some bits of electronica and wrap up in pop elements to create Kettcar’s typical style. Today, Kettcar’s music is best described as German indie rock and pop.
Their debut album “Du und wieviel von deinen Freunden” had an extremely successful start. Alongside, Kettcar refused two major record deals and founded their own label, Grand Hotel van Cleef, which has already signed more than 20 bands. Their second record, “Von Spatzen und Tauben, Dächern und Händen“, was also very present in the media. In 2008, they released „Sylt“, a very convincing record with its rougher and darker sound and sophisticated lyrics which “slam the door in the face of romanticism and cosiness”.
On stage, Kettcar are just fun. For those who like the Beatsteaks, Element of Crime, Madsen or Sportfreunde Stiller and don’t know Kettcar yet, come to the Rockhal on 12 July and become a fan!
