Within Temptation have come a long way in the last ten years. From their humble beginnings, the Dutch band have now sold over 1.5 million CDs and DVDs world-wide, making them not only Holland’s biggest selling musical export but also one of the fastest growing new rock acts internationally. The group will be back with a new album is expected early 2011. Within Temptation will delight Luxembourg fans of gothic rock on 1 April 2011 in the Club at the Rockhal.
Formed in 1996 around the nucleus of its guitarist Robert Westerholt and vocalist Sharon den Adel, Within Temptation released their debut album “Enter” with the independent Dutch label DSFA in April the following year. But 2000 was to prove the group’s pivotal year. Continuing to build their live reputation at the principal European festivals, the group released its second album “Mother Earth” in the December.
The group’s popularity continued to grow in the Netherlands and it spread like wildfire across the continent. “Mother Earth” achieved Platinum and Gold in Germany and Belgium respectively. Returning to the studio in 2004, Within Temptation recorded a third album with producer Daniel Gibson, fuelled by the massive international radio hit “Stand My Ground”. “The Silent Force” is the most successful album to date.
After such a dazzling rise to fame, the return of Robert Westerholt and his accomplices is eagerly awaited. The group signed with Roadrunner Records in the United States, making simultaneous global release possible. It was with “The Heart of Everything” that in 2007 they made their mark around the entire world, as masters of symphonic pop metal. Sharon is now showing exactly how versatile a vocalist she is. In fact, on some numbers she sings with a great deal of power whilst on others she reveals a more melodic side.
Today, the Dutch performers have decided no longer to keep their many fans waiting. A new album is expected early 2011. Luxembourg will have to wait for their appearance until 1 April, when the Club at the Rockhal will welcome Within Temptation.
